Abundant Solar Systems for Commercial Buildings
In our two decades of experience designing and installing solar systems, we’ve brought solar power to restaurants, office buildings, retail centers, fitness centers, farms, rental properties, breweries, and churches. We’re excited to bring solar power to your organization, too!
Why Go Solar at Your Commercial Space
Offset rising energy costs.
With rising energy costs and the need to offset them, a solar system at your business helps keep your utility costs predictable and gives you more control over your energy usage in the long run.
System costs are at an all-time low.
Photovoltaic (PV) module prices have fallen by 51% over the last decade. Currently, the cost per watt of solar panels is the lowest we have ever seen, and while prices have gone down, efficiency has gone up. This allows more power per square foot and a faster return on investment.
Little to no maintenance required.
Solar panels carry a 25-year power output warranty. In fact, one can expect up to 40 years without significant power loss. Most grid-tied solar panel systems require very little maintenance, if any.
Choosing the Right Solar System for Your Business
Every commercial solar project begins with a detailed assessment of your building, including structural considerations and roof condition. From there, we design a right-sized system that aligns with your goals. When necessary, additional roof support is addressed, and we always recommend installing solar on a roof with enough remaining life to support the system long term.
GRID-TIED SOLAR SYSTEM
A grid-tied solar system produces power that is fed into your electrical system and used on location or sold back to the utility grid.
Pro: Lower cost and maximum savings.
Grid-tied systems allow you to offset your electric bills through net metering by sending excess power back to the utility.
Con: No power during outages.
When the utility grid goes down, so will your grid-tied system, because a grid-tied system does not provide backup power unless paired with battery storage.
GRID-TIED SOLAR SYSTEM WITH BATTERY BACKUP
With the addition of a small battery bank to supply power during outages, a grid-tied system will continue to work.
Pros: Backup power when the grid goes down.
Essential circuits run during outages with a battery-backed system, while still allowing you to take advantage of grid-tied savings.
Cons: Higher upfront cost.
Battery storage requires a higher initial investment than a standard grid-tied system.
OFF-GRID SOLAR SYSTEM
Going off-grid means your solar system charges its batteries to meet all your electricity needs.
Pros: Complete energy independence.
Off-grid systems allow you to operate entirely independent of the utility, making them ideal for those seeking full self-reliance.
Cons: Higher cost and system complexity.
Off-grid systems must generate and store all required power, so they require larger arrays, more batteries, and more thoughtful energy management.
Getting Started on Your Solar System
From the initial consultation to system activation, we keep the process easy and hassle-free.
We take an initial look at your property in our software to see what is possible on your roof, in terms of cost and size.
We send you an estimate based on our findings.
Once you accept our proposal, our team will visit your location to confirm the layout and location details, check the electrical system, and finalize the system design plan.
Once we start, expect your system to be up and running in 3-7 business days, depending on its size and complexity.
We love the challenge of meeting businesses’ design needs; it’s a joy to put solar energy in the hands of the business community.
Integration with existing infrastructure or backup systems
We are happy to inspect your current system to assess its capacity to scale and improve performance, and recommend upgrades to its components. Depending on the system, panels, and inverter, we will find better solutions to meet your solar goals.
At Abundant Solar, we do not push upgrades or products that are not needed to achieve your goals. Our aim is to provide you with what you need at the best cost we can. And, if your goals are not offset by the costs of your system, we will be honest about that. That’s the Abundant promise.

Solar Incentives For Your Business
Investment Tax Credit
Commercial solar projects can secure a 30% federal Investment Tax Credit if construction begins by July 4, 2026. Projects that do not begin construction by July 4, 2026, must be fully operational by December 31, 2027, to receive the credit.
Energy Trust of Oregon
Energy Trust of Oregon has incentives for your commercial solar project, including cash incentives for your business, leasing incentives, and incentives for entities with farms, nonprofits, and Tribal Nations, and more.
Net Metering
Net metering means the utility pays the customer the same rate the customer pays the utility for exported solar generation, either monthly or annually. As long as your solar system is sized correctly for your annual needs or slightly smaller, you will receive full retail value for all the power you produce until the utility year-end date.
Net Metering is forecasted to change in the coming years. California changed its net metering policy in 2023, and now utilities pay consumers only 25% of what they used to for exported solar energy. Consumers who installed solar before this change were “grandfathered” with the former retail rate.
