Local experts in solar and battery storage systems

Abundant Solar was an early adopter of solar power. Since 2005, we have been committed to being a vibrant part of the community; harnessing the power of the sun on both small and large scales.

Abundant Solar began as a way to live and breathe the environmental stewardship our owners and customers embody. Embracing a livelihood we can be proud of. Prioritizing community and preservation of natural resources. This is what has sustained us for over 20 years.

Our Mission
Enhance the quality of life for our global community by empowering people to produce their own clean, renewable energy at home and at work.

Our Core Values
Promote sustainability.
Care for those we serve.
Show up personally and maintain integrity and quality in all aspects of our work.

Our Commitment
We install quality solar systems based on your specific needs, both now and in the future. We support and service our installed systems, and those left abandoned by other providers. We want you to benefit from your investment for years to come.

Our Story

James Reismiller earned a degree in Sound Engineering from Indiana University, but when asked what he wanted to do next, his answer was clear: “I love living in Oregon and renewable energy.” Driven by that conviction, he entered the Electrical journeyman apprentice program, channeling his technical skill into a field that aligned with his values. Four years later, he earned his license and registered Abundant Solar within days. Thus, our story began in 2005 with one employee and a small Toyota truck powered by vegetable oil.

James passed away unexpectedly in 2022, yet his legacy continues to guide Abundant Solar every day. The company was built not only on his passion for sustainable living and minimizing environmental impact, but also on his desire to help others do the same. Cassandra, his wife and current owner, shared that passion from the beginning. Their home—constructed from straw and mud, finished with adobe floors, a composting toilet, and of course, solar energy—embodied the lifestyle they believed in. That commitment still carries into the business today, through a net-zero-energy shop and the use of electric vehicles.

Cassandra fondly remembers James coming home over the years with the newest sustainable products and ideas, from early $25 LED bulbs to a bicycle he converted into an electric bike to reduce fossil fuel use. Today she moves forward with his vision, believing, as he did, that the work Abundant Solar does makes the world a better place—one home, one project, one day at a time.

Meet Cassandra

As a civil engineering student, Cassandra watched a program about the Rocky Mountain Institute and its global mission to create a clean, resilient energy future through market-driven solutions. The message resonated so profoundly that she changed her major immediately, becoming the first student in Oregon State University’s new environmental engineering program in 1993.

She joined Abundant Solar in 2013 as the office manager and immediately fell in love with the company her husband founded and its mission. Cassandra’s work then and now reflects her lifelong commitment to caring for the Earth. While most of her responsibilities keep her in the office, on the phone, or behind the computer, you might run into her bringing her team Benny’s Donuts at a job site.

Before Abundant Solar, Cassandra worked in industrial and commercial energy, as well as water conservation and pollution-reduction roles. She has always been passionate not just about cleaning up pollution and waste, but about preventing them in the first place. Since 2007, she has been an active volunteer and supporter of the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition, living out her values and advocating for cleaner, more sustainable living.

Our Top Priorities

Quality and Customer Experience

Our goal is to grow, but not so big that we can’t have meaningful conversations with every customer, spend the time needed to ensure they are heard, and educate them on the impact they will make by choosing solar. And, we certainly never want to grow big and fast, leading to downsizing and losing good people. We value long-term relationships with our customers and staff, and we operate our business with those values in mind.
