Solar Electric Systems for Homes and Businesses
Solar Electric Systems for Homes and Businesses
Every hour more energy from sunlight strikes the earth’s surface than is consumed worldwide in a year.
At Abundant Solar, our job is to put the power to harvest solar energy
in the hands of homeowners and businesses.
Today, solar electric systems are more affordable than ever, thanks to state and federal tax credits, utility rebates, and net metering laws that allow consumers to sell excess power back to the grid. Your solar electric system will provide a clean and stable, low maintenance source of energy for many years into the future, while offsetting your use of traditional greenhouse gas-emitting energy sources, such as coal and natural gas.
In fact, with a properly sized solar electric system, your home or office can be a net zero power plant, producing enough clean energy on a yearly basis to meet all your electricity needs.
On average, Western Oregon receives more sunlight per year than Germany, the world’s leading solar market.

Oregon Residential Energy Tax Credit to Expire in 2011
The 2006 bill that put Oregon on the national solar map will sunset at the end of 2011 unless the legislature passes an extension or renews the bill. The Residential Energy Tax Credit (RETC) will expire at the end of 2011 unless extended by the Oregon legislature. The $3/watt up to $6,000 credit has helped the Oregon solar industry go from a niche market to a booming service industry in just 5 years. While the Business Energy Tax Credit (BETC) has been in the headlines for its high cost to the state, mostly from abuse by large wind developers, the RETC has been steadily helping to cover Oregon roofs with solar and boost local job markets.
At Abundant Solar, we are contacting our legislators to encourage them to extend the bill. Those wishing to express their support of the RETC can contact the Oregon legislature. Meanwhile, those who wish to receive an Oregon tax credit should install their system no later than November 30, 2011. The Oregon Department of Energy has said “no tax credit certifications will be mailed in 2012”. Check back here to see if the RETC has been extended.
